Domestic abuse if estimated to cost the economy £66 billion a year. Domestic abuse can cause employees to be distracted at work, arrive late, leave early or miss work altogether. The workplace can also only be the safe place many victims have and it is important that businesses are well equipped to support them. There has been a significant climb in cases of domestic abuse during the pandemic, impacting a huge number of people.
Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce are working with the Staffordshire Police, Crime and Fire Commissioner to support businesses across the region by offering free Domestic Abuse Workplace Champions training.
These Champions will get training to help to spot the signs of domestic abuse in the workplace and act as a confidential and supportive figure, being able to signpost to help and advice.
They have now trained over 240 Workplace Champions in nearly 100 companies across Staffordshire and it is having a big impact into the health and wellbeing of their staff.
The sessions are fully funded by the Office of the Police, Crime and Fire Commissioner so there is no cost to your business.
