Careers Hub event success

The Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) Careers Hub team for the third year running held its Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire LEP wide event at Yarnfield Park in Stone.

It brought together senior figures from school, business and our provider network to update on the national and local careers agenda following the introduction of the national careers strategy, new Statutory guidance and the new Ofted framework.

The event was a vehicle for the CEC to showcase and celebrate some of the amazing work being undertaken over the past year across Stoke and Staffs, a glimpse at the future and importantly the impact this work is having to support our local economy to plug the growing skills gaps and to inspire and prepare our young people for the fast changing world of work.

There were over 100 delegates attending, including over 40 schools and also over 35 business professionals including our team of Enterprise Advisers (business volunteers) and our recognised Opportunity Area and Hub Cornerstone Employers from UHNM, Euro car parts, STP – Working Better Together, KMF, Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Stoke City and Seddon.

The day was a huge success with delegates having an opportunity to hear from Claire Hutchinson the Director of the CEC network, Kevin Hutchinson from Balfour Beatty, Jan Wheat from Leek High School and Kate Taylor from Ornua the day was part hosted by Carl Ward the Chair of the national CEC Head teachers advisory panel who also led a Q and A panel with guests Ben Dyer (Inspirational learning group), Vicky Brookes (BT), Katie Garner (Regional Lead) and Judith Scott (The Rawlett School).
