Businesses invited to Energy Strategy workshops

Businesses and organisations are being invited to contribute their expertise to help the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Local Enterprise Partnership develop an energy strategy for the area.

The strategy will set out plans for local energy generation, distribution, efficiency improvements and demonstration projects to support the growth of the area’s economy and improve life for residents. Energy is an integral element of the LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan, which aims to make Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire an internationally recognised investment destination and a centre of expertise for indigenous energy.

The LEP is developing the strategy with support from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The strategy is being developed in partnership with Encraft and Sustainability West Midlands

Local businesses and organisations are invited to two workshops which will share information about the development of the Energy Strategy and receive feedback. The workshops will include:

  • Welcome and introduction from the LEP
  • Overview of the Energy Strategy and associated research and development from Encraft
  • Feedback from delegates via a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) workshop facilitated by Sustainability West Midlands
  • Next steps

There are two identical workshops taking place; one in the north and one in the south of the LEP. Dates and venues are listed below including links to the SWM website where you can register to request a place.

Registration for both closes on Thursday 18 April at 12 noon.

The LEP’s energy strategy will be closely aligned to the priorities outlined in the government’s Industrial Strategy white paper and the Clean Growth Strategy. The strategy will also highlight specific investment priorities and opportunities and set out an action plan, highlighting sectors, industries and areas where energy could potentially drive most economic growth.
