Is your business making a social impact? Let government know!
As part of the Cabinet Office’s review into businesses taking a mission-led approach, it will be running a series of roundtable events across the country this summer, including one in Birmingham on July 18.
These events are aimed at entrepreneurs and those that are running or working in mission-led businesses. These are businesses that are profit-distributing, committed to making a social impact and transparent about how they do it.
If you run or work for one of these businesses and want to help the Cabinet Office understand this field better, please do come along. If you work with or advise these businesses, please share these events with your networks.
Together with various partners, Cabinet Office is hosting roundtable events in June and July to hear from people running or working in mission-led businesses. Roundtables will be held in Cambridge, London, Cardiff, Oxford, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham. Full details are here.
These events ask for a couple of hours of your time for a conversation focused on questions including:
What are the advantages of taking a social impact lens to creating a business?
How do you communicate your social impact to your customers?
Is “mission-drift” a risk as your business grows and how can it be prevented?
How do you access aligned finance?
Do social impact values equal value for your business?
Who should come along?
If you are running or working for a profit-distributing business that is committed to making a social impact, the Cabinet Office wants to hear from you. Mission-led businesses of all sizes and sectors are welcome, from small start-ups to family firms to larger businesses and everything in between.
This is an opportunity to meet other businesses on a similar journey and to help develop recommendations for industry and government to support this approach to doing business.
Space will be limited, so businesses are encouraged to sign-up early. The Birmingham event on July 18 runs from midday to 3pm at a city centre venue.
Businesses can also contribute by:
- Responding to the Call for Evidence, which is open until 8 July
- Sharing these events and the Call for Evidence with your networks.
- Getting in touch with the Cabinet Office team at missionledbusiness@cabinetoffice.gov.uk.
