Make It Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire congratulates Staffordshire companies on award success

Make It Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire has congratulated two Staffordshire companies after they were rewarded at the prestigious West Midlands Property Awards last night.

Gazeley scooped the property deal of the year award for leasing the Blue Planet 383,000 sq ft warehouse development in Newcastle to JCB. Meanwhile, Opus Land was highly commended for the 141,000 sq ft mail centre developed in Cannock for the Alternative Parcels Company.

John Willis, head of Inward Investment for Make It Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire said: “Congratulations must go to both Gazeley and Opus Land for their success at last night’s awards. This is a fantastic result not only for the two companies but also for Staffordshire and one that truly places the region on the property deal map.

“At the time, the Blue Planet development was the biggest distribution warehouse deal undertaken in the West Midlands and the world’s first BREEAM outstanding logistics building. The 20 year lease with JCB signaled a growing confidence in the economy and the creation of more than 300 new jobs.

“As an inward investment team, we are looking to attract major employers here to Staffordshire and these awards demonstrate the high caliber development sites available.

“Add to this Staffordshire’s central location, skilled workforce and competitive property prices and it’s clear to see why global organisations such as JCB chose to make the county their home.”
